Ancient Foes of Egypt

Egyptians have marched out to war facing many enemies and defeating them. The Hyksos,the bringer of chariots were Egypt's first great enemy.They had taken control over Egypt for several years then later were defeaten (that's what I call a serious comeback).Sea Peoples came as raiders from the oceans. They were the Sherden and Peleset. They caused the first and only naval battle in Egyptian history. Of the minor foes there were the Syrians,Hittites,and Mitanni. Several of these enemies made alliances against Egypt. From the Hyksos to the Mittanni Egypt has fought and defeaten many enemies.

Weapons of the Desert Dwellers




In the times of Pharaohs and pyramids,deadly weapon were being forged for the battlefields of ancient Egypt.A khopesh or "sickle sword"was an awesome weapon used by Pharaohs and other high ranking warriors. Of the heavy weight weapons,the bladed club was the best and most dangerous.Made of a bronze blade fused with a rock or metal club it dealt devastating blows to shields and armor.The Egytpians used slings(that's right the same thing David used to kill the giant), to chuck enormous boulders(or small rocks...)at enemies.

A composite bow,made of several pieces of wood glued together,had amazing and deadly range on battlefields of that time.With this array of weaponry,Egypt's enemies packed their bags and ran...for their lives.
